However, most people fly into Philadelphia's international airport and then travel to Lancaster by car. Philadelphia receives flights the world over and numerous daily services from all over America. Trains and buses travel from Philadelphia throughout the day, a 90-minute journey by road. From Lancaster Airport, taxis provide transport to the city and its hotels.

To travel to the city from the airport, take Highway 501 south for about 7 miles / 11 km, while those coming from farther afield can make use of a number of popular highways that converge at Lancaster city. Highway 30 provides access to Lancaster from Philadelphia in the east, while Highway 283 comes in from Harrisburg in the northwest.

Capitol Trailways buses travel to Lancaster three times a day from the Greyhound Terminal in Philadelphia, taking about 2 hours and traveling to McGovern Avenue in Lancaster. The Red Rose Transit Authority (RRTA) runs services around Lancaster and the surrounding regions.
